ND man pleads guilty in stolen painkillers scheme

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A Grand Forks man has pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges in what a federal prosecutor says was a scheme with others to burglarize pharmacies in the Red River Valley of eastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota and use or distribute the drugs.
The Forum newspaper reports that 28-year-old Joshua Fonder of Grand Forks faces up to 30 years in prison when he is sentenced May 30.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Chris Myers says Fonder and an accomplice plotted last fall to burglarize pharmacies in the region and followed through in some break-ins that netted them thousands of prescription pills. The alleged accomplice so far is charged only in state court.
