Jimmie football team adds some offense

The Jimmie football team has added three new recruits to its roster to help bolster the offense.

Head coach Shawn Frank announced Jamestown College added an offensive lineman, a running back and a wide receiver.

“We welcome three more young men to our program who fit our profiles as players and individuals,” said Frank. “We are excited for these young men, the players we have signed and the players we are currently recruiting. This class has a chance to do some nice things.”

Taylor Aasmundstad, of Devils Lake, was an all-state and all-East Region selection on the offensive line. He will be joining two of his teammates on the Jimmies’ roster.

“Taylor was very influential in the success that Devils Lake enjoyed last fall,” Frank said. “We are excited that he is bringing his ability to our program. Taylor does a nice job in the running game, and we’re looking forward to watching him develop into an outstanding offensive lineman and take his game to higher levels.”

Aasmundstad, the son of Eric and Corrine Aasmundstad, may be paving the way for fellow signee Kyle Bonam, who was a first-team all-league running back from El Segundo High School out of Los Angeles.

“Kyle is an outstanding young man who displays the qualities we are looking for in our players on and off the field,” said Frank. “He had an outstanding season on both sides of the ball, and it was that output that really impressed us as a coaching staff.”

Bonam is the son of William and Karen Bonam, and is planning to major in communications.

Darius Threadgill is the third recruit added and is the second from Del Valle High School in Austin, Texas. The other was Breun Crenshaw.

“Darius is a very physical wide receiver who covers defensive backs up in the running game, while at the same time, displaying good speed in separating from corners,” said Frank. “While he wasn’t thrown the ball a lot, he certainly has the ability to make plays in the passing game. Darius plays with an edge and will be a tremendous asset to us on the perimeter.”

Threadgill is the son of Ulice and Darla Threadgill and plans to major in criminal justice.
